Eighteen years of water engineering in Iraq

Awi Zhingai Khomali was founded in 2008 with a clear purpose: bring world-class environmental technologies to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, at a time when reliable wastewater treatment infrastructure was scarce. We started as the official representative of Arsimak, a Belgian-founded engineering firm, pairing their European design methodologies with equipment built to withstand the region’s climate and operating conditions.

What began as a technology partnership grew, over nearly two decades, into something broader. We moved from representing someone else’s engineering to delivering it ourselves handling feasibility studies, process and structural design, procurement, turnkey construction, and long-term operation and maintenance under one roof. Today we’re a full-service contractor, not a distributor, and every plant we build reflects that shift.

That evolution shows in the range of work behind us: 140+ treatment plants across municipal, residential, industrial, and healthcare sectors, from single-department clinics to national referral hospitals, from labor camps to city-scale developments. Each project has sharpened the same underlying discipline matching the right process, MBBR, MBR, or SBR, to the water actually in front of us, not a generic template.
